Parking is recommended at the Cardigan/Grattan st car park, as most of the other parking options in the area close at 10 pm.
We recommend that you plan to make a drop off as there are limited accessible parks available. If you park in the accessible parks you will need to purchase a ticket from the machine and display it alongside your disabled parking permit

HOW DO I GET THERE?
Shimmerlands is conveniently sandwiched between two tram lines on Royal Parade and Swanston street for easy access. Consult Getting Here for detailed transport options.

Shimmerlands is open everyday from Jan 4th - February 26th 2017.
Monday - Friday: 5pm - 11pm
Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays: 12pm - 11pm.

SHIMMERLANDS UNDER 18 POLICIES
Shimmerlands is a fully licensed venue, therefore standard licensing restrictions apply to minors who are not permitted on premises unless under constant supervision by a suitable adult guardian.
Further restrictions and advisory:
Shimmerlands Outdoor Cinema is not suitable for young children, toddlers or babies. Standard Australian Classification Board advisory and restrictions apply to applicable sessions. Please check the relevant classification for the screening you wish to attend with a minor.
By attending a PG, M or MA15+ with a minor, you are taking full responsibility for their behaviour and their response to the content of the film. We also recommend familiarising yourself with the movie's Parents Guide on iMDB.com.
Due to capacity restrictions, all patrons must hold a ticket however children under 16 are eligible for concession.
Shimmerlands Outdoor Music events constitute an adult environment and are not suitable for young children, toddlers or babies. Should you decide to bring young children to an event, we ask that you provide ear protection for them.

The food quarter is open everyday from 5pm weekdays/12pm weekends and public holidays, and is free entry and open to the public.

IS THERE A BAR?
You bet there is! In fact there are a few!
Free and open to the public (over 18 only), the Pavilion, lawn and food quarter are all licensed.
Open from 5pm - 11pm each day, earlier on weekends and later for special events.

CAN I BRING MY OWN FOOD & DRINKS
Due to licensing, BYO drinks and food is not permitted! BYO Good vibes.
WHAT TIME DO FEATURE FILMS START?
Cinema sessions begin from 8:30pm sharp.
Doors for the cinema area open at 8:00pm and seating is first in best dressed.
We highly recommend coming down early, grabbing a bite in the food quarter, having a drink in the Pavilion, on the lawns and enjoying the grounds.
Look out for free music events before cinema screenings on Thursday, Friday and Sunday nights, and afternoon programs organised by Andee Frost on Saturdays.

If a session doesn’t sell out tickets are made available on the door. However, we highly recommend purchasing tickets in advance, as most sessions do sell out!

HOW DO I USE A GIFT VOUCHER ?
Your Shimmerlands Gift Voucher is a unique code that allows you to book online for any Shimmerlands Cinema session in our 2017 season.
You will need to pre-book your ticket online to guarantee a seat.
To redeem your voucher, proceed through the transaction as per normal and at checkout, select 'Use Gift Voucher' in Payment Options. Enter the voucher code and click 'Check Value'. If your voucher has value remaining, you can use it towards your purchase. If the value of your voucher is less than the total amount of your cart, you will have to follow standard payment prompts to pay the outstanding amount.
Once you have completed your booking your ticket/s will be sent to you. All that remains to do is print them out or show us the QR code on your phone on the night. We care about dolphins, so please privilege the latter option if your mobile allows it!

HOW TO USE AN ADMIT 1 / COMPLIMENTARY CINEMA PASS
A Gift Admit Pass or an Admit 1 Comp Pass is a unique 7-digit serial code that allows you to book online for any Shimmerlands Cinema session, as long as it has not expired. These passes may either be issued in case of a rain-out, gifted as part of a promotion, or may have been purchased prior to 2017.
You will need to pre-book your ticket online to guarantee a seat.
To book using your pass start by selecting the film you wish to see. Below the regular price types you will see the button Enter Pass Number, select this. Enter your 7 digit Pass number. Select the number of tickets from the drop down menu and then click add to cart and proceed to the check out as per normal. Unless you have added other tickets to your cart the transaction should have a $0 value. Once you have completed your booking a ticket will be sent to you. Then all you need to do is print your ticket or show us the QR code on your phone on the night. We care about dolphins, so please privilege the latter option if your mobile allows it!

WHAT IS THE RAIN POLICY (Outdoor Cinema)?
All best efforts will be made to screen every film, but in the event of a washout you’ll be able to transfer your ticket for another screening. We’ll keep you informed with daily weather updates at 4pm & 6pm on via our Twitter feed, on the home page, and our Facebook page.
Shimmerlands reserves the right to cancel any film in the case of bad weather.
This not only applies to heavy rain but also high wind situations that may damage our beautiful screen.
All ticket holders will be notified via email in the event of a cancellation.

CAN I SMOKE?
The entire University of Melbourne campus has a strict non-smoking policy, therefore smoking is not permitted in Shimmerlands. Summer has never been a better time to quit.
CAN WE RESERVE SEATS? (Outdoor Cinema)
There is no allocated seating.
First in, first served. Our advice: come down early for a bite, a drink, and relax in good hands.
CAN WE BRING OUR OWN CHAIRS? (Outdoor Cinema)
No need, we’ve got you covered.
Many, many chairs. The best ones get snatched early so come before the session and drop your blankets on a prime spot while you enjoy some drinks at the bar.
DO YOU PROVIDE BLANKETS?
We do not, but we do recommend bringing some to maximise coziness on the odd nippy evening.
DO YOU OFFER A REDUCED RATE FOR CARERS?

HOW CAN I BE KEPT UP TO DATE ABOUT EVENTS AND SCREENINGS?
CAN I EXCHANGE MY TICKETS FOR ANOTHER NIGHT BECAUSE MY SISTER’S ENGAGEMENT PARTY IS ON, AND I FORGOT?
Bummer! Due to high demand for sessions – and limited seating – tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. Only if a session is cancelled due to bad weather will your tickets be transferable for another night in the season.

WHAT KIND OF A PROJECTOR AND SOUND ARE YOU USING?
Our films are projected via top end 2K Digital onto a huge 12m, glass matte cinema screen. Dolby 7.1 digital surround sound is run through a 30.000 Watt Funktion One soundsystem.
HOW BIG IS THE SCREEN?
It’s a big 12m screen.
Films should be presented with a level of respect for the art form.
Our screen is covered in tiny glass beads like most indoor cinema screens.
